Thinking about coming back to the Audi fold (previously an A4 Avant owner) after two leases with BMW (X5, X3). Test drove a fully loaded Q5 yesterday and loved it, but don't want to pay for the prestige package.

I was thinking either Premium Plus and NAV or just Premium Plus, but was really only want the NAV for the fancy display. If you don't order NAV do you still get the fancy display (for the satellite radio etcetera)? My BMW X3 11 character LED display is just kind of sad with all the information available via RDS and Satellite.

Anyone know?

In BMW Navigation screen (iDrive) serve 5 main function:
1. Navigation
2. Communication
3. Entertainment
4. A/C
5. Car setup

More and more it became a part of the car. That why they change name for 2009 models in BMW and it's not just navigation for AUDI - it's Audi MMI® Navigation plus Package .
And I agree it's very expensive at $3000.

Just read one more time my post - I don't think I answer your question. Sorry.

Which I think is an important safety feature. Too bad though that balloons the price at least to 45K for a compact luxury SUV...

I guess to save money you could buy instead a 4ucam:-).

You also loose I believe multi-color display (red display).

The Backup Camera and the Driver Info center between the speedomer and tach is one color orange/red? The main display from the pics I saw still looks multi-color so yes you still get the fancy main display.
The one I drove (premium plus with nav)had the multi-color info center. which displayed nav road info in the driver info. I thought this was cool but not worth the extra 3K. So we ordered the premium plus black on black without the Nav. I won't see it til May.(which is fine for me winter will be over) It takes about 90 days for an order
The MSRP price is 45k with nav and 42k without

Here's link to a different forum with pic's of the Q5 without the Nav

http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=4249013</a
