saw pics of a CX9 crash - not sure I would get one as the occupants died and the occupant cage was pretty destroyed.

I'm also looking at both Q5 and RX350. Any opinions?

and none are in the show rooms yet.

I suspect the new RX is a little bigger now - the amount of leg room in the RX-300 we have is huge compared with Audis I have been in. I suspect the new RX will be even better.

The 01' RX-300 has a number of things I hate:
1. Horrid turning radius
2. Lousy gearing (only a four speed auto) as the car would be screaming going up some passes in the rockies
3. Lack of hp
4. Noisy (road and wind noise)
5. Lack of good road feedback.
6. Mine came with Horrid Goodyears
7. Lack of upgrade stereo with nav
8. No memory linked to the keys (since my wife if 5'2" and I am six feet lots of adjusting had to be done when we swapped driving her car)

Since this is her car it will be mostly her choice but at least now I won't care which one she chooses.<ul><li><a href="http://www.autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20090107/FREE/901079995">Autoweek</a></li></ul>

ya, the leg room is one thing I'd really like have. I also noticed that the rx actually has more cargo space than X5.

I like the look of Q5, actually I love Audi's design but I've never own a Audi before. I heard many ppl saying lexus is much better than audi in terms of reliability. Is it really?

We have over 100K on our car with only typical maintenance issues - oil changes, timing belt, tires etc.

Once had fogging in one headlight that was replaced under warranty

I suspect the Q5 will be more fun to drive and the interior will probably look more luxurious - I also think the AWD will be better in the Audi.

Audi would definitely be more fun to drive. I also heard about Audi's reputation for their interior quality. I only plan to keep the car for about 5 years. It shouldn't give me much trouble right?

The new rx seems to be pretty cool. I know some people hate the changes on the new model. But i kinda like them, both exterior and interior, apparently they improved the driving/handling on this one as well.

i know it might be a bit early to ask, which one would you choose btw?

I suspect the Lexus will be less than the Q5 fully equipped.

In the end it will be my wifes choice as my choice was the RS

It is a crime to mention the CX9 in the same breath as the Q5 or the RX! The CX9 is not a luxury vehicle and is simply not in the same class as the other two.

and since performance, and reliability are more important (have been since the days when I drove a brick looking car called a 73' 2002tii) I will weigh those variables when making my choice

We saw all these cars at the Ft Worth auto show. The Q5 at the show was really plain and didn't appeal to the spouse in the least. The room in the driver's seat seemed cramped, when compared to the RX and GLK. Since there wasn't a window sticker on the Q5 (no official pricing), we didn't know what else could be added to the interior to make it more appealing. As of now, the Q5 is "on hold" in our household and loosing ground daily vs the competition...It's going to be her car and will be her decision. Lexus is leading here.

What did the timing belt cost to have replaced? I was in the local dealer's office a while back and heard one of the service writers say a timing belt should be changed at 70,000 miles and it cost $1400 to replace. ??? I know an oil change on my A4 Cab cost $79, which is out of line. $28 for labor (don't need a high $$ tech to do this), $14 for filter and $30 for oil (5 quarts). I can have the same work done on my wife's Highlander for $35.
