Well, since it has snowed enormous amounts here in Vancouver this year and the past 2 years I would go for the Q5 because of the ground clearance.

I have found that either will move through snow but it's the clearance that helps in deep snow.

We're going through a similar decision right now and I've also included the GLK and the XC60 in the mix.
