The European Q5 TDI is probably better performance.<ul><li><a href="http://www.worldcarfans.com/9081120.020/porsche-cayenne-diesel-revealed">http://www.worldcarfans.com/9081120.020/porsche-cayenne-diesel-revealed</a</li></ul>

... we had an X5 (2007) and a Q7 (2007) and the X5 was by far the worse car in every aspect. So what? Well, we sold the X5 and now we have two Q7s.
BMW SUV's just can't touch Audi SUV's at the moment. Oh, and the Q5 makes the X3 look very cheap'n'nasty indeed (driven both).
And before you cry "bias!", I want the best car I can get - makers marks don't interest me. I happen to know people who own a BMW stand, Audi/VW stand and Merc stand, we are all car obsessed and I've tried them all for extended periods.
The problem with a BMW diesel is... it's a BMW.
