I noticed a small amount of distortion while playing some songs on my iPod through the AMI at moderate to high volume levels. Thought I might have an iPod or speaker/amplifier issue.
- Checked Sirius & FM channels - no distortion
- Checked same songs with iTunes on computer - no distortion
- Checked iPod on same songs through high quality earphones - no distortion
- Removed iPod AMI cable in car, reseated both iPod and cable to AMI connector
- Distortion now seems to be gone.
I'll reserve full judgement after I play it for awhile but methinks (and hopes) that solved it.
Apparent solution - if you get any distortion playing the iPod, first thing would be to check the cable to be sure it's seated properly. Could be that if not fully seated, interference or signal degradation of some sort can occur.

You have to go into the player mode, hit shuffle, and it then proceeds to actually re-order the playlist/list you were playing so to shuffle. However, if you navigate away from it (go back and then back into the playlist) it goes back to the regular playlist. It's just bizzarre and really poorly implemented. Sucks.

Wish they could keep the list intact and just shuffle (skip tracks randomly) like every other implementation of shuffle I've seen.

the setting with the equaliser with the iPod. I had it turned on once and forgot to switch it off when reconnecting to the car. I almost thought the system was broken. Try turning it off and see.

In my home system, there's distortion when the setting is on bass booster at higher volumes.
