Still about $5,000 (MSRP) difference, priced the way I'd buy either one, that's not insignificant. A4 may be more fun to drive, but A6 may give me some more room to grow with my two kids... and not a bad ride either. I'm stumped. I won't be shopping for a few months, but would be interested to hear opinions.

Now a TDI A6 Avant... that'd be a nice piece. It'd also be $65k probably :-(

A6 avant is a great family car. My wife's car is a 1999 model that we got used. The new ones are very expensive IIRC, big price jump from an A6 sedan to an A6 avant. (not that an A6 sedan is inexpensive.)

With the facelift, the A6 may even surprise you with improved handling over the 08s. The 3.0 TFSI looks very interesting.
