A few weeks ago, at about 13k mi., I couldn't get gas into the tank, as the backpressure kept shutting off the nozzle. I got some gas in by continually pulling the trigger, assumed it was the pump at the cheap station I was at, and drove off. Last week I went to my regular (Chevron) place and had the same symptoms. So I pumped it manually again, accidentally overfilled it, & drove off, with the engine stalling several times getting out of the station and several more times on the highway; after 5 mi or so, probably draining the gas past the problem point in the filler, it smoothed out.
The dealer hadn't heard that one before. They decided to replace the fuel tank (in order to replace the integral filler system), ordered one in, got the wrong one. So I'm in their loaner over the weekend. I haven't yet heard what the problem was, though it seems like a good bet that this should fix it.
Any thoughts?
Happy Thanksgiving,
- Jay
98.5 Avant 2.8Tip
