I know this has come up before, I want the ADS option but $3,000 is a lot for an option that I might not use as much as you should.

Do you think I will use the ADS option with just normal day to day driving? I like more of a comfortable drive, will ADS provide a more comfortable driving experience?

Opinions? I have not driven an A4 with the option so it is hard to decide. I will probably just spend the $3K to be on the safe side.

If you search, you'll find that those who have driven the car on the track were almost unanimously in agreement that it's worth the money.

2 cars in one.

Can't you go down to the local dealer and do a back to back test drive to decide which you prefer?

Being in the US and not having driven an ADS car either my opinion based on information I've seen and read is ADS in comfort mode will be more "comfortable" than the standard setup. Not just in suspension, but acceleration and steering characteristics also. How much more comfortable is debatable since an ADS car reportedly starts with the sport suspension but has variable dampers.

One thing to keep in mind is AFAIK the car defaults to "auto" mode and you'd have to switch to "comfort" mode every time if you always want to be in comfort mode.

Another way to think about it is if you desire one of the sport or S-line options for the wheels and/or sport seats, but feel the non-ADS sport suspension will be too harsh then the ADS option may be worth it for you. (Some A6 owners with sport suspension complain it is too harsh and it sounds like ADS might have been exactly what they were looking for...to bad they don't get it...for now.)

I have to say hold off until you drive both, simply because of the high cost of this option.

If you find that the sport suspension is too harsh for daily use, then the ADS is a great alternative. For me, I really like the ability to have a car that can have true multiple personalities, so I was leaning towards getting it. That said, I'm still going to wait until I can drive a car with just the sport package. I may find that combo just as enjoyable as with ADS.

I know that ADS is more than just suspension (steering, throttle response, shift points, etc.), but the ride quality is probably the one that you would be able to discern the most with every day normal driving.

Hokie, have you driven one of the new A4's with ADS yet? If not, take one for a spin - any engine. I think you might be as impressed as I was.

I've not driven the new car yet, looking forward to doing so at some point soon. I'm sure it is amazing, but in the $50K neighborhood it damn well better be.
