Just back from Munich and Berlin, my friend wound up with an A4 (stick) diesel as a rental car. I rode more in the back seat since there were 4 of us. The redline in the diesel starts at about 4,800 rpms. The fit and finish was excellent as expected, this one had full fabric interior and nav, it was a black on black model. The ride (from the back seat) was much firmer than I expected, my S4 is even smoother. The B8s are plentiful in Germany already and I saw a few new B8 avants as well. I only saw one 2.7 tdi A5, one new S3 and one RS6 avant (not the newly anticipated model). On the competitors side the BMW 1 series is easily the most popular car in Germany right now (the 3 and 5 door), they are about as common as Honda Accords and Altimas are here. I saw the new Mercedes CLC over there too, very nice looking car, will be a real competitor to the BMW 3 series. I primarily was travelling around Germany in an Alpha 159 sedan -- wish they were availble on this side of the water.
