View Full Version : Any improvement on the torsen quattro system over B7? tubi 08-08-2008, 08:41 PM Is the quattro system the same, except the 40/60 bias? kr964 08-08-2008, 09:34 PM you frequently drive in extreme conditions. The 40/60 bias change is barely noticeable comparing to the old 50/50. tubi 08-08-2008, 10:47 PM How come this B5 got stuck?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oo9GV4mSnRQ</a

kr964 08-09-2008, 06:35 AM The B5 did not have (enabled) EDL. And this quattro did not got stuck:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EyKstZ6a5ag&f</a

Hokie_Audi 08-09-2008, 06:40 AM If a wheel experiences zero traction all the power gets routed there. The Torsen center diff can only split torque fore and aft. The front and rear differentials are responsible for left to right splits. The B5 has electronic differential locks which use the brakes to apply friction to the slipping wheel to move power from one side to the other. But if both wheels are frictionless that won't work either. The solution in that situation would be to apply the emergency brake, stop the rears from spinning, shift power through the center to the front and drive out of the little trap.
