The brochure is small and not very telling... All it says is there will be a 3.2 FSI Quattro and 2.0 TFSI Quattro available with Tiptronic or 6 Speed Manual... No mention of Front Track or CVT... Also no mention of DSG (wouldn't that be great!)... Who knows? Time will tell... Got to drive the A5... Very nice but 52K with all options... Yikes!

FWD is fine for me here in SoCal... No snow and very little rain... Lighter car with better gas mileage and if you've ever driven a CVT in "S" mode attached to 2.0T it really outshines the 2.0T Quattro with Tip... Oh that's right, none of you have ever driven a FWD...

Over a number of years of A4 production, FWD A4s have been preferentially shipped to southern climates. A couple of years ago a buddy of mine had to look hard for a Quattro in San Diego. Here in the Seattle are, there's a very rare FWD/CVT seen on a dealer lot.

attend a drivers school and you will be AMAZED at what quattro does on dry pavement.

FWD = Lower price, less weight, better gas mileage and as I mentioned before the CVT FWD 2.0T has better acceleration than the 2.0T Quattro with Tip... Handling will no doubt be better with Quattro... In SoCal with no snow and 7" of rain a year FWD made sense "for me"...

- FWD overall gets 2 mpg better (both city/hwy)
- FWD is only 0.2 sec faster in 0-60
- Quattro only adds 121 lbs

So overall I would see these differences as pretty minimal, plus quattro = no torque steer. :)

But, you buy what fits you best. And you're better off in a FWD Audi, than any BMW of course! :P
