after years away ( I was one of the early posters on JET's Audi site) Contemplating a new Audi. Can't wait for an s4, so the question for the experts: with reasonable modifications (larger turbo, exhaust etc), what kind of hp could I expect on the new 2.0T? Obviously, nobody has one, but given past experience, is 275-300hp grenade territory?
TIA

yeah yeah you guys are too skeptical. had a 98 a4 2.8, bt in 2007, new site would not recognize my old email address BTW, this was prior to it being called AudiWorld. I think my old logon was lost when he changed over...I had migrated to the dark side by then (Porsche 911) Thoughts on my question?

. . but my experience with a 1.8T and a 2.7T and "mild" flashing or chipping; and adding sport BPV's and every other inexpensive "beathing" aparatus most mere mortals can afford, is that you will most certainly get a decent boost in torque from the factory spec 258 foot pounds.
Likewise, you should easily get at least another 10% HP (maybe even 15%) with this kind of modified "stage one" approach.
The engine with new turbos and other expen$ive stuff can certainly crank out more -- but I suspect each attempt will increase turbo lag, or at least without some serious engineering and expensive engineering at that, could.
Are you looking for quick or fast? I'd imagine the stock unit will be more than adequately fast and if the published 0-100kph specs are true, it already will be quite quick, too.
If and when you can stage one flash this thing (assuming you can), try it or wait for someone else to try it.
The new A4 is lighter and with 258 foot pounds, has torque very much like some not too old S4's that came with 250HP 2.7T's in them -- and these cars, off the showroom floor, were quite capable of quickness -- stock, with similar torque as the new 2.0T.
If you've the money, can wait a little bit and have ever worked with Joe Hoppen (MTM) or APR or, or, or, others in the Audi Tuning world, I would assume there will be options.
Me? I'm just going to try it bone stock (although I'll probably inflate the tires to maximum psi) for a while -- c'mon, 258 foot pounds of torque in a lighter A4? The thing should hardly be a slug.

Thanks, great advice. now if they only would make the Avant in a manual...
I saw the new a4 at the AoA showroom in NYC yesterday...a true beauty, and looks to be closer to the old A6 in interior room.

You guys are a bit hung up on this. As I said, my old email address doesn't even register, so a password email would be useless.
