Also, not to be surprised, car gains weight.

Payoff From the Power?
North American buyers will get to choose between two gasoline engines when the A4 goes on sale here next spring. Kicking off proceedings will be a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder. It's based on Audi's new EA888 power plant and will feature Audi's latest direct fuel injection and variable valve timing/lift systems.

Not to be confused with the existing EA113 designated turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder found in various Audi models, the new engine is claimed to provide similar power and torque outputs to the unit it replaces, so expect around 200 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque with as yet unspecified improvements in fuel consumption and tailpipe emissions.

I've been hoping to get numbers indicating the weight of the north american B8, so I'm wondering where your statement came from. Thx

The quoted weight of below 3500 lbs sure seems lighter than the current 3.2 quattro, but they say the new model is heavier.

There's nothing but steel in the new 2009 Audi A4, yet there's still a useful 10 percent reduction in the weight of the unit body. This 3.2-liter V6 with all-wheel drive weighed in at 3,483 pounds, 88.2 pounds more than before. The base-model A4 with its turbocharged four-cylinder engine weighs 3,109 pounds, 44 pounds more than its predecessor.

Note that this was a test drive in Europe so the four banger that they're probably referring to is the 1.8T FSI vs the previous 1.8T.

Hmm..3483 for the 3.2 with Quattro. Bizarre, AudiUsa has the 3.2 with Quattro and stick at 3649 . AudiUsa has the 2.0T with Q and stick at 3549, or without Q it was 3428. I agree that Edmunds may have made a mistake... any thoughts on that?

I always figured Edmunds was a North American company that would have targetted the NA market.

I would hate to see the NA 3.2 Q go from 3649 to 3737lbs, but it sounds like that is inevitable.

imho, they should have kept it the same size (not many people care about the backseat room) and lost weight. they added 6" to the length- that's a huge difference.

Bodyshell is 10% lighter than the previous model, though it's everything inside that added up to more than what was there before.

looks like the car has some eye disease. a poor attempt to individualize the car in the steps of BMW (who did it right)

has loved them. I think they look extremely high-tech, original, modern, and expensive.
