I wish that they would have kept the 2.0, but it's all good.

I have had a great 2-year experience with my 2.0T S-line and would like to come back to the brand when they have a competitive offering. I didn't feel that getting another B7 at the end if its life cycle would be a good choice, so I am getting a 335i for a 36-month lease. The 265-hp 3.2 V6 will not match the 335i in raw power and performance but it has addressed many of the shortcomings of the current B7 platform for me (long front overhang, unfavorable weight distribution, power/weight ratio for the V6 model, interior room, etc.)

I am not crazy about the A6/Q7/A5 style instrument clusters and will miss the wraparound dash/door trim look, but the new features and extra room will make up for it. IMO, the B8 A4 looks better than the E90 BMW and C-Class MB both inside and out.

Since the V6 is rated at 265 hp, I think the 2.0T engine will see a modest 10-20 hp bump to either 210 or 220 hp. I am only interested in the 3.2 V6, however. Been there, done that with the 2.0T. It's a nice engine but I want the more refined 6-cylinder feel.

So, it's natural for people to wonder. But, popular opinion is that the initial release is only for Euro market cars, so when a release about US market cars comes out, who knows.

I really doubt that the only car with a 2.0T in the US will be the A3. If so, they better at least give it Quattro. :)

Then again, some have argued that Audi shouldn't offer a 4 cylinder car since their competition doesn't. Maybe....nah.

... or quote it again from the A4 press release...

Equipment and trim, data and prices stated here refer to the model programme offered for sale in Germany. Subject to amendment; errors and omissions excepted.

It's not an opinion, it's a stated fact.

With respect to the A5, given that it's a new model, and the market it's competing in, Audi may bring the 2.0T later but I'm not betting on it. As for the A4, if Audi drops the 2.0T, they'd lose a fair bit of the market because of the pricing of the V6, and that would include me. Majority of the A4s I see here are the 1.8T/2.0T quattros, very few V6s.

but I am not convinced that they're dropping the 2.0T. I'll bet the number of 2.0T sold is greater than 3.2. Also, I don't think they're looking to take the A4 out of the current price range just yet.

Now if VW needs another peppy engine while getting great mileage this could be an ideal engine for their Golf or Jetta.
