View Full Version : Who makes the best chip for the B8? Bronze 08-29-2007, 08:44 AM :-) Sorry, the new posts are just too hilarious. I had to join in. Zetetic 08-29-2007, 09:11 AM ECU Chips for the 2.0T FSI turbo engine are part of a highly competitive and sometimes controversial market with claims and counter-claims about who is really the "BEST"! The real question is what is best for you and your driving style. Chip programs have different power & torque curves that could make your car either very fast off the line or a midrange freeway flyer. There are steady & smooth programs and also very peaky programs. Some programs reportedly stress the turbo with excess boost. Search the enthusiast forums with keywords like "chip" and/or "boost" and you'll find a plethora of info and data. Some of what you find will be purely testimonial in nature (the worst data), but you'll also excellent technical evaluations to include comparative power, torque & turbo boost graphs. Good luck! nirad 08-29-2007, 09:28 AM Gorobei 08-29-2007, 09:32 AM vplaza 08-29-2007, 09:33 AM ;-) S4iowa 08-29-2007, 09:49 AM

http://forums.audiworld.com/a4b8/msgs/21.phtml</a

nirad 08-29-2007, 11:06 AM no 2.0t for the a4, and the 1.8t won't be sold here. someone said 3.2 and 3.0TDI only. Gorobei 08-29-2007, 12:24 PM that all the info released to date is for the German market. Absolutely nothing has been said about what will or will not be offered in the US. Yesterday everyone was certain that the dual exhuast was gone, too, and by evening a pic had surfaced of a 3.2 quattro with duals. Does anyone really believe they would scrap that motor so early in its lifespan? It's multiaward winning and fairly new. There is plenty of incentive to offer smaller motors in Europe, like expensive gas and tax hikes for higher output motors. I think folks need to get a grip and wait and see what is announced for the US. We require totally different motors over here. jba 08-29-2007, 01:22 PM they plan on dropping the price on the 3.2 and releasing a newer motor between the 3.2 and the 4.2 S4 in performance. (maybe a 3.2tt w/ ~300hp.) (one can dream) I'm highly skeptical of either scenario. My guess is that they launch w/ the 2.0t & 3.2 v6 - S4 gets 4.2 v8, and maybe they come out with new engines in 2009. I really do wish they had an answer for the 335's motor though. That's the most alluring powerplant out there right now, IMO. Bronze 08-29-2007, 01:29 PM Bronze 08-29-2007, 01:30 PM requirements, so we should expect some differences, albeit possibly subtle. Youreviltwin 08-29-2007, 01:56 PM TT31 08-29-2007, 03:28 PM nirad 08-29-2007, 04:09 PM i think they are following the BMW strategy of staggering the model and engine updates- i.e. the new body style will be released with the older engine, and the engine will be upgraded 1/2 way through the model's lifecycle. In 2010, I expect a higher output 2.0t, a 3.2 V6 TT (or NA 3.6 V6) for the A4 & A5, and the S4/S5 will get the current RS4 engine. The RS4 will get a V8TT. Of course, this is just conjecture. jba 08-29-2007, 04:16 PM |
