Google isn't very helpful. Something like Edmunds, but with info for bikes?

most dealers sell pretty close and hope to get the hold back from the factory. I was going to buy a concours 14 for 11999 out the door which is/was 50$ over invoice. Bike retails for 13.8$ for the ABS.

but as BSK said they will show you what they pay. BTW....I have an R12RT and LOVE it.

I've purchased two bikes and the process wasn't significantly different than buying a car: research, test ride, haggle, purchase.

Granted, no dealing with a finance department by paying cash, but also little to no information online regarding pricing.

Now, an R1200RT is a lot more expensive than either of my other bikes, so I'm trying to dig a little deeper prior to visiting the dealership.

Any reason why this information shouldn't be available online? Or are the motorcycle manufacturers and dealers just better at keeping it secret?

less competition = less leverage you have. Its similiar but you have less negiotiating leverage. Good luck!

I've always enjoyded an extended ride home to get acquainted with a new toy. Really, 300-500 miles is the range I'd be willing to travel for the right deal.

Here's a dealer list

like right before you leave for a trip and need a last minute repair.....try that when you didn't buy the bike from 'em. I do most of my service myself....but its good 'insurance. Not saying I'd pay alot more....but I'd look to stay more local then your range.

That's better than most German auto dealerships, by comparison.

I'm not arguing, I just find it interesting that motorcycle manufacturers/dealerships have done such a good job of limiting access to this information compared to auto makers/dealers.
