I figured out how to clutch wheelie in first gear dropping the clutch at @ 5-6k revs. But I try the same in 2nd and nothing happens at all. Doesn't even jerk like the clutch is catching. What gives?

View Full Version : Slipping clutch??? A4wheelin 07-24-2007, 06:48 PM I figured out how to clutch wheelie in first gear dropping the clutch at @ 5-6k revs. But I try the same in 2nd and nothing happens at all. MiniMan 07-24-2007, 08:18 PM When you're accelerating in first or second, keep the throttle pinned and quickly pull in/blip the clutch (1/2 to full), letting it go instantaneously. That said, whenever you're trying to wheelie, make sure you're covering the brake. rotuspeed3 07-24-2007, 09:51 PM but I drag mah knee A4wheelin 07-25-2007, 10:18 AM Thanks, I'll give that a try then. Yeah I always cover the rear brake while doing this. M954 07-25-2007, 11:58 AM mtavant 07-25-2007, 04:35 PM but when they happen I can control them back to earth MiniMan 07-25-2007, 07:30 PM releasing the throttle, so that the bike's weight pitches forward, then opening right up again. You can usually get a nice power wheelie using this method too. A4wheelin 07-25-2007, 09:51 PM It won't power wheelie. Probably a good thing though. I tried the method you mention with cutting the throttle and then hitting it again. Still no dice. On the other hand, it's kinda nice to be able to accelerate full throttle without the front wheel coming up. This novelty will probably wear off eventually I imagine. :) MiniMan 07-25-2007, 10:41 PM after letting off and just before you twist the throttle wide open, then yank up as you twist the throttle, the front end should come off the ground... if it still doesn't, I guess you're stuck with clutch wheelies. :*( My last bike was an F4 and it'd power wheelie when using the method above... no serious height on the wheelies, but it'd still get the front tire up a good foot or so. Either way, good luck and ride safe. tpierce 07-26-2007, 12:38 AM if so, did you ever get those issues resolved? A4wheelin 07-27-2007, 02:55 AM Rolf 08-02-2007, 12:59 PM Power wheelies are often unpredictable. The bike will lift, and then sometimes just shoot up to balance point very quickly, sometimes going past the BP and giving you that "oh ****" feeling. When you clutch, it will pretty much snap right to BP, then you can control it via throttle and rear brake. That being said, I probably wouldnt clutch first. That would scare the crap out of me. I clutch 2nd and 3rd on my 06 R6. I'm sprocketed -1 +2. If its not coming up in 2nd, clutch it higher. You'll get a feel for it. Before my sprockets I would clutch 2nd at like 12-14K, but I dont even look at the tach. I go by sound. I just know when to pop it based on the engine. Keep trying, you'll get it.
