View Full Version : Buy a bike or put the money into the A3?

I've been bikeless for a couple of years now, but I keep finding myself in the shops on the weekends. Looking mostly at sports-tourers, but some of the standards have also caught my eye (I spend a lot of time gawking at the Ducati GT1000).

Problem is, for the price of even a used bike, I could upgrade the A3's suspension, exhaust, wheels and tires, add a boost guage, and buy something from Ross-Tech.

What to do?

My buddy just bought a 2000 Triumph TT600 last week for $3,300. Much more fun than any car could be! Well most cars. ;)

My A4 has a chip and suspension, and quite frankly, to me any other mod brings diminishing returns COMPARED to getting a bike. It's not like mods aren't worth it, but really, having two very different vehicles instead of one is always the more interesting choice - you have more fun that way..

in the turns and has a gap in the back that would make Allroad owners proud. It needs a suspension upgrade, but I want to have a little two-wheeled fun, so I leave in a couple of hours to look at a Sprint ST.

A friend of a friend is selling the Triumph. The price is right, even before any proper haggling, so I'll probably end up with the bike, and the suspension will have to wait.

You won't regret it! Think about it. Suspension would be nice and all, trust me I understand. But walking out and getting on your bike would be a much better feeling from walking out to your lowered A3.

He had a Ducati 900ss/sp and a BMW 325is back in 93'....He said, "A nice car always beats a nice bike".
