I really like the new Adaptive Cruise Control feature and want to get it on my new Phantom Black S5--but I'm afraid that it will give the otherwise beautiful car a big scar.

...and some people never noticed the laser lens while others noticed it right away.

Do you think the ACC lens would be noticeable against the Phantom Black color? Would I be better off ordering it--and then pulling it out if it's not so pretty? What is the cost of a replacement grill?

I wasn't sold on the actual feature, much less the looks..

That said, if I had it, and I really, really, really, didn't like the looks, I'd probably see what could be done to dummy up a symmetrical twin on the other side, rather than throwing away a couple of grand for the ACC + another couple of grand on a grill.

I have it and I don't really think it "ruins the looks" at all whatever color. If anything, I have had more inquiries on what it is and what it does than what is that "strange bulb in the front lower grill". The functionality is amazing. Got to try it out first time on my 2 week old Quartz Grey S5 and it is very cool. All you have to do is steer. It maintains perfect space depending on speed, slows down perfectly as you creep up on a car or if a car cuts into your lane, and if space opens up the car accelerates right back to set speed.

Could you post a photo (or e-mail me one)? Especially if anyone has the car in black with ACC...

I was down my parts department tonight to review their findings on the Homelink retrofit see

We were looking for the home link transmitter located behind the grill and in the exploded view for the 09 A5 the Camera for the advanced cruse control is shown as hidden behind the MAIN front grill, I quizzed them as to the location of the camera in the 08 and its not showing in the same place, so we figured that Audi must have relocated it from the bottom LHS.

I would get back to a GOOD local dealer and get a straight answer or go direct to Audi UK/USA and find out.
