Got an unexpected call that in fact the Truck had arrived in time for a Saturday afternoon pickup..
And I am now listening to the impressive grumble of the V8.
It was well worth the wait. (although December 15th seems so long ago..) Try to get some pics up at some point in the near future..

It's going to take a while to assess the Bang and Olufsen stereo - too obsessed with listening to the V8.. Man that is something else..
We also have a Q7 4.2 - and the engine's don't sound anything alike.
Dynamic mode on Drive Select does some very cool things up shifting when slowing - amazing to listen to. Can't wait to get out of the city and hit some roads to really play around with the settings..
I haven't had enough drive time on open roads to push it, but cannot wait.
A couple of nit-picks -
Odd that the passenger can change the temperature on Auto mode, but not have different fan speed than the driver. Kind of curious how the AC handles difference in temperature with out varying fan speed..
I was disappointed that with the Magma Red interior, while the steering wheel stitching was in red, the Automatic Tranny boot was not stiched in red thread. Where it looks like it is on the manual in photos? (very very minor point) Along the same lines, is that the floor mats are pretty plain - black, no-logo, no red trim, etc. (boo-hoo, right?)
Other than that, I hit the wheels with some Swissvax wheel wax this morning, (which I didn't really do until recently on the Q7 and paid the price with some carbon pitting.)
Meteor Gray is great - I hadn't seen in person until mine, and it's very difficult to tell by pictures.. In the shadows it seems darker than it is, and it reflects light to appear lighter in direct sunlight..
Came with the Ski bag, keychain, and I'm waiting until parts opens up to get the ipod cable.
I toyed around to see exactly what happens with the turn signals and DRL's (I've read enough about it, but wasn't sure exactly what the winking eye behavior did). I'll have to find a VAG-Com somewhere because I'm actually reluctant to use the signals now.
Why am I typing - need to go drive somewhere...

I also forgot to mention - the Carbon is the way to go - it looks awesome - especially on the console.

Did you have to pay gas guzzler tax for your tip?

I wonder what the steering would be like if you didn't have Drive select to make it 'dynamic'.. It's pretty impressive and tight.
Boy does it get up and go..

Thanks! Mine is coming next week. Just wanted to be sure one more time since my dealer has not ever given me a reason to trust him...

But there are fan speeds for both driver and passenger.. is that just for non - auto modes?
BTW, I am like you ... I like all those little details and sometimes get annoyed, but still cant wait to get my car!

...Dynamic and Comfort modes? I was really surprised by how dramatic the difference is from one mode to the other.
I drove in only Comfort mode after I got it, without switching, for a full week, going all over, and really driving it. That gave me a baseline before I switched to Dynamic. It is a world of difference.
I have yet to do any Individual settings.

I had my wife behind the wheel and switched to dynamic when she wasn't looking and she could tell the difference almost right away..
I think when I get around to setting up 'individual' I will go dynamic steering and suspension, with comfort on the engine. Since all 'dyanmic' is already a hard button - and for normal driving, fuel usage, I don't need the transmission in 'S' mode.
I notice when the car is in 'Dynamic' mode the Gear indicator on the heads-up goes from D4 to S4 (or what ever gear you might be in).
I wondered too, whether the Tiptronics sold without 'Drive Select' have a 'S' mode below 'D' on the shifter? (our Q7 has the S below drive)

I don't think that the fan speed is ever different for the passenger and driver. (Auto or otherwise)
However the passenger can set their climate control for higher or lower temps, which has me puzzed as to how it might accomplish it... I guess by just mixing the air to a higher/lower temperature..
