What's the consensus in the best choice for the S5?

Definitely not as good in the snow as the Gislaved NordFrost 3s but infintely better in any other conditions!

Derek

Never heard of the brand you mentioned. Where's the tire made, and where did you get it?

Are they available in most tire stores, or do they need to be specially ordered - I just nevr heard of the brand. If they're designed for Swedish winters, I'd imagine they're quite good.

I have used the Dunlop M3 Wintersports on my past two cars and plan to order either those or the 3D for the S5 for next winter. I have an S4 Avant now and love the tires.

I live in eastern PA and they are more than adequate. I drive most days on either wet or dry cold roads, with occasional snow. I have had no trouble - even with snow deeper than ground clearance. I am willing to trade a little deep snow traction for better handling and ride on the dry or wet roads that I am on most days. That said, I have never even gotten close to stuck with them and usually have to slalom around the other cars sliding hopelessly out of control.

If I lived in a real snow area (interior Maine, for example), I would probably get a "real" snow tire, like the Blizzak WS50 or the Nokian Hakkapeliitta. I don't know Gislaved, but Swedes know snow, so...
