I finally got around to taking some pictures of my V1 install so I thought I'd give a step-by-step.

I started the cable at the top of the windshield, leaving enough slack that I could place the V1 on either side of the rear-view mirror.

I used a dull butter knife to push the cable under the trim around the windshield, working it across the driver's side and down the a pillar. I was unable to push the wire completely under the A-pillar trim towards the bottom-front of the dashboard. I tried to match the curve of the trim as I ran the cable along the left edge of the dashboard and then into the side-dash fuse area.

I used a fusetap (from Radio Shack) to tap into the left-most the second fuse from the top (I think that's for the wiper heater). I grounded the connection on the bolt above the fuses, using a nut I found that fit it.. I just screwed the nut over the bared ground wire.

The remote display was attached with double-sided foam tape. I kept it far enough to the left that it doesn't block the view of the MMI display and slightly in front on the plastic trim so that it won't creak. The cable was pushed sharply back and CAREFULLY pushed between the instrument panel and the dash.. the plastic chips very easily, so go slowly.
Once the cable is run across the entire instrument panel, it goes around the the dash to the fuse compartment. It's visible, but I did it right at the transition from one trim piece to another <img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/88557/img_1306.jpg">

The cable go into the power block that came with the V1 below the fuses, back behind the dash. (hard to get a good picture)

The fuse is switched, so the V1 comes on when the car is started. The remote display location works well, completely visible and not blocking anything and the mute button is easy to reach. The V1 location is very good for front and back detection, but I do to be careful with the sun visor.

I agree, the remote display works perfectly there, but its a little bit of a reach to mute. With my V1 to the left of my head in the top corner of the windshield i can still use my visor, but when pushed all the way forward it touches. Try it over there.. in that location you cannot see it from outside... at all. Also, i've found i push mute on the V1 unit itself. its very close to you up in that corner.

BTW, thanks for the help with my window open key fob. it works well.

Do you lose the auto dim feature with that set up and do you have a link??
Thanks

Keeping the detector high and in the middle seems to give me the best overall radar &amp; laser coverage.

I had the V1 in the same place on my A4, so I'm used to the slight inconvenience.. I suppose I could always move it to the passenger's side of the mirror, but I'm fine now.

Thinking about bringing your car up for one of NAAC's clinics or performance driving schools?

Nice mirror, though.. I've saw something similar a while ago, except I think the mirror was still half silvered so the display was invisible unless lit (like the compass)

dropping a G note on a mirror is a little too much. Unless of course it will work with your next car, and the next, and the next....

let us know how it works out
