What a ride.
I've driven many Audi products, and this is by far the sweetest handling ever. (That said I haven't driven a R8).
My first opinion of the steering was that it is too light. After driving that ~50mi trip I must say the setup is fantastic. It's almost effortless to drive. No shifting really needed because of the grunt from this engine, the steering is super smooth and perfectly assisted, and perhaps the most impressive part is how well the brakes get rid of speed.
The balance, trail-braking into some of the whoop-ti-do turns coming down pagemill, was exceptional. Unlike my pushy S4, the S5 turns in well and is very behaved during large weight transfers.
What a great car, and I'm still 40mi shy of really opening her up!!!
Love it.
