My car has just under 2000 miles on it and the low oil light came on yesterday. I checked the level myself and it was indeed low. I added about 1.5 quarts to bring it up to low-normal levels. Checked the garage floor and didn't see any major oil spots (maybe a few small ones). I did have my oil changed at the dealer when the car had around 300 miles (at a cost of $142) about a month, so they could have screwed up. Anyone else had to add oil? Of course I cant get the car looked at until after christmas and I need to drive it out of town tomorrow.

every 2500 miles since the car was new. I have had it checked but no leaking, the engine is just burning the oil. My tech said the rings did not settle properly when new. Hopefully the S5 is not the same way!

changed my oil at 1900, I'm at 3300 now and I'll check my oil level tomorrow. I'm running 5w30. Bio synthetic from Renewable lubes in Ohio. I personally would not have driven hard before 800 miles. For every new car this seems to be the procedure for proper break in. Many say to keep it below 4,000rpm for 1200 miles.BMW Mini

I always thought of break in as taking it easy all the time up to 1k miles. I plan on keeping this car for a long time, and if not I would be confident in selling it to a friend.
