S5:
Wheel Base 108.3 in.
Length 182 in.
Width 73 in.
Heighth 54.1 in.
335i:
Wheel Base 108.7 in.
Length 181.1 in.
Width 70.2 in.
Heighth 54.1 in
I took these figures directly from each companies websites. As you can see they have almost the exact same dimensions. I did this comparo so that I have a better idea/feel for the size of the S5. Now all I need to do is go check out a 335i.

still stuck in the 80's, same as they were 8 years ago when I bought my first Audi.

just for (un)due diligence. I've never looked seriously at bimmers.

when you compare.
Just for reference btw, here is an M5 interior and S6 interior
I also had no idea that the M5 had that hard cheap plastic look of a chrysler product.

Well I suppose I'm not surprised that the S6s interior is immaculate and beautiful, Im just shocked that the BMWs one is so so bad. Audis do have exceptional quality though and are easily comparable to Aston Martins, Bentlys and Maseratis which I have also been in. Its quite amazing to be in those cars and then fully appreciatr the superb standards of an Audi. They are undoubtably the producers of the best quality, best designed interiors, and exteriors in my opinion.

...does not compare to any Audi interior. The design is lacking and the grade of materials used is clearly below Audi's standard. It's not necessarily horrible, IMHO, but I know there is better out there.
That said, it is one of the best driving cars I have ever had the pleasure to sit in and thrash on the road. Really an fantastic driving experience - the engine is absolutely amazing, the steering spot on, and the brakes are like throwing out an anchor. It is a far better drive than a friends M3. (I'm not up on the BMW chassis numbers, but it's the latest M3.)
But as I've said before, if the A5 lives up to my driving expectations, and there is any way I can afford one with the options I want (the S5 is almost certainly going to be out of my price range, I am afraid) I will likely buy an A5 as my next car. I guess I'm just an Audi guy at heart...

But yeah, the current BMW interiors are horrible.

I think it might be SLIGHTLY better than the M5, but that's really not saying much given how bad that interior is.

Stuck in the eighties? I have to agree. If it weren't for the orange illumination rings around the gauges, the guages would look identical to the ones on my brother-in-law's 1988 325!

but has anyone else felt a little cramped in the 3 series driver's seat? I'm only 5'9", with an athletic build, but my elbows felt cramped. I kept knocking them into hard edges. Even my B5 A4 doesn't have that problem.
Besides that, the BMW interiors have always seemed like there was something missing, or covered up. It always seems like interfacing with the interior is an afterthought.

and I just go back to Audi by default... no one else seems to know how to make a liveable and highly functional interior that is still pleasing to the eye and other senses... shame on them!

the 335i has very nice prop. the A5 is even wider. it just looks big. can't wait to see it. it is DEF a 3 series competitor, not a 6 series one.

BMW interiors are very boring. The only reason I decided to lease a 330 over the A4 is because of more legroom for the driver.
The interior is so stale. And the run flat tires kill that car.
Since seeing the A5, I am contemplating ending my lease early and getting the A5.

I seem to remember the last time I sat in a 3 series it felt kinda narrow. I'm probably a bit wider than some folks at 6'1" 235lbs so could have something to do with it. *shrug*
I don't recall if that was the current models or the previous ones though.

When I ordered my car, I got the regular seats. They seem unsupportive. Then again I was used to the Audi sport seats in my A4.
The BMW has plenty of leg room. But it just seems to narrow. I'm 6'5"
