Same old cookie-cutter interior. After the R8 and the TT, this one lacks the sharp lines and futuristic design... I prefer the Nuvolari concept.

Looks like Audi went backwards. Whats up with the Q7 mirrors? The wheels are even worse. Hopefully it performs because after teasing us with the beautiful Nuvolari, the A5 is a 5 out of 10. mbando 02-20-2007, 06:18 AM Anyone have any idea when it will be released but I want a 335i but they are RWD and I really want AWD so maybe this is my ticket, looking to buy in august, lol. This setup work great for Audi in C6 platform and drivers are happy with it. Very functional interface and few outstanding feature set Audi way ahead from BMW cabin which IMHO looks like old Buick not advanced 21st century car. They couldn't use TT dashboard for obvious reasons...this is not sportster it is way bigger and closer to A6 than TT...and as you said Nuvolari is a concept so they couldn't use it either. A5 cabin will also reflect new cabin look of B8 A4 series. Audi announced that new platform will use onboard MMI systems so build in screen will hold more than just NAV and Radio. BMW steering wheels design is plain ugly and reminds me of........ DeMOROlized 02-20-2007, 07:32 AM Fxhomie 02-20-2007, 07:41 AM acdace 02-20-2007, 08:03 AM boring design...been there done that. totally agree with you Wicked The-Superunknown 02-20-2007, 08:40 AM Way too curvy. Back end has BMW written all over it. The-Superunknown 02-20-2007, 08:46 AM DirtySoap 02-20-2007, 09:47 AM Muscular lines, great stance. Audi finally has a good looking coupe to put out there. kyrsplat 02-20-2007, 01:52 PM kinda looks like a victorian bathtub below the proportionally too small greenhouse. It's sorta like de silva took the simple, essentially straight shoulder line of all pre-A5 Audi's and tried to inject "emotion" into the design by distorting the line at the front and rear fenders. From the rear 3/4's the car looks nice as it has a Jag XK haunch which looks muscular, but the addition of the equal-sized curve on the front fender completely negates that muscularity and makes the car look heavy and whale-ish. The headlights lack any form of character, just simple rectangles that are overly decorated in an attempt to compensate for their blah (yes blah). I wonder what the car would look like with a straight beltline or straight up until the rear fender. I'm sure the side character lines look better in person. Even with the engine moved farther back, doesn't the front overhang still seem kinda long? I bet the back would look better if Audi removed the reverse lights/rear fog/reflector assembly from the trunk lid and integrated them elsewhere. I don't like the exposed cupholders; they should be concealed. Also, the black trim surrounding the exposed cupholders looks cheap. The instrument panel in front of the passenger is rather simple. There should be some nice trim surrounding the quattro badge like in the A6 or A4. I wonder if the armrests are rubber/vinyl or if they are leather? Leather would be nice for a change. |
