they just kept me as an audi buyer once again...
the only car that has kept my attention on audi in its current line up is the b7 rs4... outside of that there was really no reason for me to stay...

i think this would revive sales slightly...

Pics courtesy of PROXUS. Mucho gracias senor.

Nav - Looks like 2 "buttons" are lined up horizontally above the a/c control (2nd "button" partially cut off in photo)

Especially the A6 style headlights and huge mirrors. Nothing that 20" wheels, coilovers, sport mirrors, and a bodykit can't fix.

Which begs the question, what kind of nefarious orange-ness will the DOT come up with to ruin them?

Is that how auto manufacturers launch new vehicles these days?

By bringing out the "bare bones", stripper versions for the public to see for the first time?

C'mon.....

First of all, this is, clearly, a Euro version which means that it might not be totally representative of what we see in the U.S.

I see a 3.0 TDI which, may or may not, make it to our shores. I hope so, but time will tell.

The 3.2 will (in whatever form), surely, make it.

Hopefully those seats make it, too.

I wouldn't buy one because coupes don't work for me, but the car is gorgeous.

If I was looking for a coupe in this segment (and could afford this one) I'd definitely put it at the top of the list.

whack wheels, and weak 3.2 V6 that I hope is not in the books for the U.S. So, to answer your question, yes it is a base model as compared to what we will get here. I guess you don't watch Audi releases, such as the recent TT in which they show the 2.0t first, or other cars in the past. Looking at the obvious 'euro' trim (as evidenced by the website (.de) it is a cheapened up Nuvolari, big time. Perhaps bare bones is harsh, but it is obviously a base model.

As for the orange reflector, I see a perfect spot for it on the very outside edge within the assembly next to the curve.

I hope not, but I would not be surprised if Audi markets it here as a slushbox only car priced at $55K. AoA is that stupid, so they will do whatever they can to make sure it fails here.

And of course Europe will get all sorts of cool engine and tranny options.

I don't like the mirrors one bit on this car. Looks like it was yanked off of the Q7 - very unproportioned to me.

The headlights look identical to a stock A6. I personally think it looks too bland for a sporty coupe. The R8 and TT have much more dynamic looking optics IMO.

And I would probably keep the car out of warranty....the repair cost and reliability of a DSG out of warranty may be huge.

DirtySoap

hopefully it isn't riddled w/ problems once it gets older, but time will tell. But the more cars it is implemented in, the lower the cost will be over time.

So, yes, if you expected a concept car to make it to production without significant changes you expected too much.

to look like a very good choice. If only they would introduce an S or RS model at Geneva...

When the TT first came out (MK1) I was very excited and had that (must have that car feeling). Same thing with the R8, although its out of my range. Unfortunately with the A5, that feeling is absent. I'll try to wait until I see it in more pictures and Audi has released official specs. If I had to make a decision today, I might be tempted to go with something other than the A5, maybe an RS4.

JohnLZ7W
02-20-2007, 04:18 PM
However the fact that it's very likely that the S5 will come with a 6-speed manual is really encouraging. Still tho it'd get in the way of an eventual R8 purchase.
