What is the "best" thinking on engine options: HP and torque for both the A5 and S5?

Also, is it likely that interior options for the S5 will only provide for the dark birch--no warmer wood options? Thanks for any info.

(My lease ends this time next year on an A6 2.7t s-line of which I have come to greatly appreciate the low rpm torque available from a turbocharged engine. I am curious if turbocharging will be an engine option with the new A5 line.)

This is basically an A4 coupe after all. It would make sense to have parallel engine offerings.

will be built off this platform. So it doesn't have to have the 2.0t just accept it somewhere.

There will be no 4 cylinder engine in the A5 Coupe' IMHO.
All wil start with the new 210 hp 2.8 litre V6 FSI Valve-lift engine.
Then a 3.2 litre V6 FSI with 260 or 300 hp depending on the fact of it having Valve-lift or not.
And off cause a 4.2 litre V8 FSI engine.
On the diesel front there will be a 3.0 V6 TDI engine.

also it gives some breathing room for them to make a 400hp s5 a viable option. I dont really think its a step backwards, probably just a little exhaust restriction or software. the engine is still supposed to be an fsi 4.2
once the new range of b8 cars come out i wouldnt be suprised if the a5 got a bump up to 350hp and what not...its all marketing, companies do this stuff all the time.

upgrade from a little 2.0t or anemic 3.2V6. I remember back in the late nineties, a 250bhp car was really good, funny how now its considered mediocre. Let the horsepower wars continue . . .

The 2.0T should be the mid range engine for A5.

it needs at least 300hp for the 335i and 280 for the 228i. I want to see a 3.2 FSI turbo...
