Before production, after production?
And, how long was there between when you paid for it, and you picked it up....i.e., how long to get all the paperwork done, and delivered to you for the trip over?
My dealer wants to know when I want to come in and do the contract (i.e. give them the check). Not sure I want to while still 2 months out from deilvery in Germany.

dealer wants your car on this months sales figures. I am not sure how they count euro delivery vehicles but this is what it sounds like to me. I know the terms state you pay in full after the vehicle is built.I know when we did our Volvo through ED a few years back we had to have the car paid in full one month prior to delivery.
Here is what Audi's website says about ED:
Customer agrees to pay vehicle in full prior to traveling to Europe to take delivery of their new Audi.
* After vehicle is built, Dealer will contact customer to complete Bill of Sale / Sales Contract and request full vehicle payment.
* Customer agrees to take delivery of their vehicle in Ingolstadt, Germany within 60-days from the date that payment is made in full. If customer does not take delivery of their Audi within 60-Days, the vehicle will be no longer be available for European Delivery.

the dealer would contact you to arrange payment, and that the VIN assignment takes place when the car enters production. After payment was made in full you'd then receive the final packet from Audi with all of the completed pick-up forms, hotel reservations, etc. I'd be hesitant to pay for a car that doesn't yet exist.
