Car (RS4) was ordered 7/16 and I still don't have anything from Audi, specifically the info packet.

How long should I wait, or should I call them and as?. I want to start planning the trip ASAP.

What delivery date did you request?

My experience is that the dealer gets confirmation of the delivery date, within a week of placing the order, long before the welcome kit arrives.

I ordered an S4 back in April for an August 21st delivery (honeymoon), but didn't receive my welcome packet until early July, and I'm supposed to receive my final papers today. So all the papers come late.

But, if you're getting itchy, call up or email Kathy Bis at the European Delivery HQ, and check on your order. Or ask the dealer for a confirmation number.

ED Phone Number: 1-866-681-6275
europeandeliveryprogram@audi.com

If you get your confirmation of the build date, I think it's safe to book plane tickets and hotel rooms. I did, worked out fine.

Good luck!

07/02: Order placed with requested delivery of late September or early October
07/27: Welcome packet arrived saying the car would be ready sometime in mid-September (no specific date was given)

As part of the welcome packet they request that you email them a scanned copy of your passport as well as your itinerary (desired pickup and dropoff dates, hotel choice, flight info, etc.).

I sent them the dates I was requesting (10/01 pickup in Ingolstadt and 10/12 dropoff back in Munich), but I haven't yet booked my flight b/c I was hoping to first get confirmation for those dates.

with confirmation of my requested dates, so it looks like I'm all set to arrange my flights.

I called Kathy Bis today, and she's going to check and call me back. I'm trying to set up meetings in Germany so I can combine this with a business trip.

I have not received my commission number yet.

Thanks.

should be off vacation and the roads will be less traveled along with that the Fall colors should be starting to appear. I believe you may still be able to catch the last few days of Octoberfest in Munich as well depending what day you arrive. ;-)

I initially placed the order on a Saturday, so I stopped back by the dealer the following Monday after it was officialy put into the online order system so that I could get a printout. The commission number was listed right at the top of the page, and it matches the production number referenced in the European Delivery packet.

and then spend the day in Munich. Oktoberfest runs until the following Sunday, so I will most definitely be checking out the festivities. I'll be staying that night at the Kempinski hotel at the airport, and picking up the car the next day. From there I'm not entirely sure yet, but I was thinking I would head to Prague for a couple of days, and them loop back through northern Germany to Koln. From there I want to stop by the Nurburgring as well as the old Spa-Francorchamps circuit just over the border in Belgium. While it pains me to know that I will be unable to drive my car on the Ring, hopefully I'll at least be able to hitch a ride with someone. Spa is now just public roads, but the history is still there. To see both of these historic F1 tracks up close and in person will certainly be one of the highlights of my trip, other than the car of course...

http://www.speedtv.com/articles/automotive/lifestyle/21969/</a

You guys were right about Kathy, she's very helpful.

Mine will be produced the 39th week of 2007, the week of 9/24.

Then it takes 2 weeks to check it out and get it to the Audi forum in Ingolstadt. So maybe week of 10/15 for pickup.

I'm supposed to get the info packet this week.

Now the wait.

Is it just me, or do US dealers seem to dislike ED?

I just think that a lot of them aren't very familiar with the process yet. Still, it seems like a pretty good deal for them for the amount of work they actually end up doing. Sure they don't get reserve, advertising, floor plan assistance, or dealer investment program, but they get a guaranteed 3% of MSRP as commission, plus they retain the difference between invoice and the final ED price.

Assuming invoice is about 8% of MSRP, and with the 5% ED discount with no further negotiation, they would get about 6% of MSRP for each ED sale. On a $50,000 car that's $3.000.

park your beautiful new RS4 outside of Prague somewhere safe and take public transportation into the city. Prague is terrible to drive in and car theft is a big problem. Our Hotel recommended we put our car up at a "Car Hotel" during our stay.......which we did. They met us at our Hotel and took the car to their secured and guarded garage and then delivered the car back at the timing of our choice. We made the mistake of driving our new Q7 into Prague and even farther into Old Town" which was where our Hotel was located. What a nightmare, lots of one way streets and not a lot of room to get around. Extremely nerve racking andthe whole time my wife worring about getting her new ride banged up. Next time we will definately leave the car at the Audi Forum and take the train to Prague or leave the car outside of the city somewhere safe.

I too wanted to get to the "Ring" and Spa on our trip but thought we would do other things. After Prague we looped back into Germany and stayed in Nurnburg for the Christmas Market and then headed down to Zermatt for some skiing. Next trip I plan on visiting the ring,(hopefully with my new S5)

cit1991 is the one getting an RS4, but thanks for the advice nonetheless. I hadn't really even thought about the car situation in Prague.

I placed my S6 order July 16th and haven't heard a word from Audi. And my dealer doesn't have any info either. Frustrating!

866-681-6275, which I think is the main toll-free number

248-754-4601, which someone wrote on my ED procedures document.
