anybody know any audi dealers in the u.s. that will go lower than the 5% discount off msrp? with bmw, there are dealers out there that will give much deeper discounts. just wondering if anybody knew the same for audi.

Audi dealers are recommended to charge MSRP less the European delivery discount (5% for the larger Audi automobiles). They are permitted to sell at whatever price they please just like a US delivered car. While Audi does not have a separate Euro delivery invoice, they do pay the dealer 3% (1% for A3) of invoice on Euro deliveries as a "commission". Hoever, the dealer does not get floorplan assistance, reserve, advertising and dealer investment payments on Euro deliveries.

Under the best of circumstances one could thoretically get an Audi deal as follows for Euro delivery. US Invoice(incl. delivery) - 3% + 1000. Most Audi dealers don't want to touch Euro delivery as they do not understand it and it is unknown to them.

The BMW Euro program is far more generous. In recently comparing a highly loaded BMW535 with an A6 4.2 with the similar options the BMW savings were substantial.

Has anyone had any success in negotiating a European Delvery price as suggested by htspecialist i.e., US invoice - 3% + $1,000? My local dealer is absolutely unwilling to even consider anything other that the standard 5% discount (I even had to push to get it to do that. I don't think it likes ED). I assume that the $1,000 is intended as an additional payment to the dealer (in addition to the 3% commission paid by Audi). Since the car does not come out of the dealer's allocation, it seems that there is sufficient profit in the deal just to do the paperwork.
