View Full Version : Hi guys and gals, I'm in the market for an R8. First year right of refusal?

I'm very close to putting down my deposit here in the northwest to order an R8. White/Carbon/6spd is what I will most likely get.

Anyhow, my main question is simply this:

How many of you were required to sign a contract by your dealer for the "one year first right of refusal?" It essentially states that your dealer gets first chance at the car (MSRP or Auction reports, whichever is less) if you decide to sell it within the first year of ownership. Has anyone seen this? Any R8 owners here that actually signed it? Thanks,

or two to buy one. I'm going to enjoy the same engine in my RS4 until i can get a non ass raping price on an R8.

Not unreasonable...obviously you don't have to sign, but they might be fearing that you will buy it at sticker (if this is the case), and turn around and sell it for a tidy little profit. This is a very unique car for them.

also, they may have concerns that if you sell it to someone else out of the region, the investment they made in an R8 tech specialist to service your car would be wasted.

why would you be worried if you intend to keep the car longer than a year---unless you don't intend to ????

particularly care as I plan on keeping the car.

No, I'm not sure it's even real.

you have the right to say no to it.

but the more they hear about it the more likely they are to change their mind about playing a passive role with this issue. it happens a lot with many dealers. my dealer tried to pull the same on me. i forced them to cross out the penalties outlined in the agreement before i signed it. i also had no intention of speculating on my car so it was of no great concern for me.

If the dealer is selling car at MSRP that is bringing a Premium over this is a general practice. Ferrari Dealership's did it with the Enzo.
