Hey Guys, just saw this on RS6.com. Wanted to know your thoughts on it. Do you really think that the R8 V10 can shave over 38 seconds off the ring time of the V8 R8 (V8 R8 laps it in 8:04 based on wiki)?

http://www.leftlanenews.com/audi-expects-v10-r8-to-beat-zr1-gt-r-nurburgring-lap-times.html</a

There is no doubt in my mind that it will be very fast, but that is a lot of time to shave off. However, look at the GT-R. On paper it shouldn't be able to do that time, but it does.
Time will tell, but if it does, wow. Glad I'm on the list :)

Ring times are fun to post but to make it truely consistant they need to run things with the same drivers, tire compounds etc.

fast.
so i would assume in all publicized runs, they are using the best possible driver, compounds, weather etc.
one could say that the best suited/familiar driver for that particular car is most capable of getting the best time in that car. as such, this gives the car's time the most validity.
when compared to what a regular joe could achieve those specialized driver times could be considered theoretical (because the fastest car might not be the easiest for a regular joe to drive and achieve his fastest lap time), but they still make the most sense when comparing how car times around the ring.
