A local, large dealer, tells me that his company has sent back the R8 deposits on his books, because they have been informed that, because of the value of the $$,Audi will be redirecting cars to strong currency countries. They will be giving cars to current customers from here on.

And he was not trying to sell me a car, he already did.

Anyone else hear this??

They already adjust MSRP by country as needed for exchange rates. Why would they care about the value of the dollar as long as they are able to sell the cars?

it is not a direct currency exchange. A4s in germany are way more than 40k USD

In the US they have to compete with domestics which aren't as affected by an ever weakening dollar.

US buyers would balk if they did a straight currency conversion - especially at how quickly the prices would have had to rise over the last couple of years as the dollar has slid.

Given the strong demand for the r8, it makes sense to supply to markets that provide the greatest financial return back into audis coffers.
