even be looking at this forum, let alone posting on it, but let me tell you my little story anyway.
So, the wife and I fly to Miami (from Atlanta) every March with some friends (last Wed thru today) to watch some early rounds of professional tennis at the Sony Ericsson Open on Key Biscayne. We stay at the Doubletree on Biscayne Bay near the cruise ships. Every morning I take a leisurely run out the Venetian Causeway toward South Beach.
So this past Sunday morning at around 8AM, I'm running over the bridge and I see a Florida Highway patrol car lights flashing up ahead at the toll plaza. So what do I come upon, a bright red R8 V12 TDI with two guys sitting in it with the engine running and a Q7 parked in front of it. I stop and gawk and of course they don't acknowledge my presence so I keep going on my run. As I past the toll plaza, there sits several other Audi's including an A8L and a motor van with a table set up along side with coffee and pastry. I'm thinking to myself that perhaps AoA or AW Florida had something going on. On my return part of the run, I decided to stop at the motor home, introduced myself (to a guy that looked like he might respond to an inquiry plus he was talking to a babe) as a long time, multiple A8 and other Audi owner. He was cordial, etc. Turns out it was some Audi AG guy with a thick German accent, (obviously) over promoting the R8 TDI and they were doing a video photo shoot as it was coming over the bridge, bla, bla.
Some time had lapsed and what's interesting is as I'm running back over the bridge toward the hotel, traffic is stopped in both directions, the Q7 is traveling along side the R8 shooting video as the R8 is coming over the draw bridge toward me and guess who happens to briefly get in the video shot..."me"....bet that part ends up on the editing room floor. I chuckled to myself and thought what a small "Audi world" we live in.
Oh, I did call DerKimbo from the Flordia AW Forum and left a VM that there was some stuff happening on the causeway.
