Dealer "games" are beginning on my order that I placed 16 months ago.

For those who have received your R8
1) How many of you paid list?
2) If you did not pay list, how much over did you pay?

Please be truthful - I know this is personal information, but it appears that I need some "ammo" to present to a dealer that I should have no issues with, considering the number of cars I have purchased from them.

I paid a deposit 1 year before I took delivery in September. I didn't have a signed sales order stating that it was to be sold at MSRP, but that didn't matter. The dealership I bought it from was ethical. There was never a question about it. In Europe, Audi doesn't let dealers sell new cars for anything above MSRP. In the US it depends whether you bought it from a dealership or a stealership. I hope you chose the former. I bought mine in the Northeast also, not California (the home of the market adjustment). If you bought from Jack Daniels, my prayers are with you.

I was even allowed to order CF parts to complete what could not be order (engine and interior) at 10% over dealer cost.

However, my dealer was telling me that he gets about 5 calls a day from people all over the country ready to offer $30 - $50K over MSRP to get it. His stance - "I am not letting my clients down. They have been waiting for over a year".

MSRP. I don't know of any factory ordered cars that were for more than MSRP, and rightly so, as it doesn't make any sense.

dealers out there that are prepared to buy cars over MSRP and there are of course some that are prepared to sell to those dealers to make a fast buck. Stay on top of the dealer and let him know the consequences of screwing you; name is mud, never buy another vehicle, smear campaign et al.
If you get a box from Audi with a nice picture then you know they are expecting you to recieve the vehicle, this may hold some recourse with ANA.
Additionally the window sticker comes with the name of the client the car was built for. Might want to check their lot often to ensure that your car is not getting sold to someone else.

You've asked for information but don't provide much background on what the you feel the dealer is doing with your order. I have an order pending; week 13 build date (March), estimated May delivery. I've placed a deposit with the dealer and been told the car will be sold to me for MSRP. I don't have the final pricing as there was one item on the order, custom painted side blade in non standard color, which the "system" wouldn't generate a price figure for at the time the order was entered.

I am curious. When did you place the order, did you get a customer #, when is the car supposed to be built, and when are/were you projected to recieve delivery? Did you sign a purchase contract and/or also place a deposit on that contract? Was the purchase price spelled out in the contract?

Cheers

i work for Biener Audi in Great Neck NY, an ordered car should be MSRP. If you happened to stumble on one at a dealership thats when they start going over sticker.

Yes, we'll take your $5k and then decide when we get your car how much we'll charge for it. They call it MVA or market value adjustment. Nobody at Nissan seems to care and why should they? Unless you asked for the car at MSRP and they agree, you are subject to a market adjustment. Same goes for Corvette, Ferrari etc. Not a new issue. It is manufacturers SUGGESTED retail price after all. Some dealers have been clever how they approach this (Ferrari).
