I am trying to figure out how much tint (%) to put on the new baby and where (only on side windows or including the back window covering the engine bay). Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

I had it done. Looks great on a black car. 35% Tint

No need to hide the engine, can you post any pix - I am torn between 50% and 30% tint...

I worked at a tint shop a while back. We used 50% once. It was almost no change. I'd recommend 30%. Actually, 35% is ideal. It looks good on pretty much any color car, blocks the sun fairly well, and you can still see out of it. And if it were me, I think I'd end up leaving the back window over the engine alone. I think...

I got to get me an R8!!!

effective at heat rejection. 3M has a new product that is very light but incredible but so far is for flat glass only.

As far as the 50%, I was mainly thinking in terms of looks. It's too light for my taste and doesn't do enough.

In the past it was usually the darker the film, the more heat would be blocked. I guess technology is changing the world of window tinting along with everything else. That's interesting what 3M came out with. Sounds like that film would be a VERY good choice for people who want to keep their homes cooler, but not change the look of their house as some reflective films can do.
