Just wondering because R&T said in their road test that the manual was kinda clumsy and that Audi designed the R8 for the R-tronic. I thought that was interesting.

that's the only review I've read that didn't like the manual. Seems most prefer r-tronic for the track tho.

would be better at the track, but in town it's just a clunky, noisy, and annoying thing. In the G, you pull the paddle, it goes CLUNK! and you feel it too, then comes the lurch of the actual change, and finally the WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE of the hydralic pump and it charges for the next change. Ugh.

That said, the travel is a tad long in the stick G, and the takeup rather high - like most VAG products.

I've seen a lot of negative posts about E-gear, and I'm curious how the newer E-gear compares with SMG (a tranny/system I'm much more familiar with).

I ask this since many here are expecting that the "R-Tronic" will perform very similarly to the current E-gear. (I am thinking there should be some improvements in the R Tronic programming but I guess we'll see).
