Just curious- what do you guys think?

DSG for a while. Not that i dont think a manual tranny is bad, i just think DSG is soo good. It will give the car the best stats anyway (zero to sixty, etc)

And for me, selling this car would be easier w/ an 'automatic'. 8^)

Heck, the 911 in a variants is available with a regular automatic. The Turbo is fastest with a torque converter! I wouldnt be bothered at all if Audi put a regular 6 speed auto in the R8.

To track the car and come screaming into the corners braking smoothly while producing perfect downshifts with matched revs on the throttle blips...

Not that I can do it yet but I'm working on it :)

For sure the pro's make it look like they already have a DSG, but us lesser beings.....

Especially with multiple gear changes, like when you are coming from over 200 km/hr into a hairpin.... with DSG you will be putting more concentration into the braking and line that you are choosing

Now that that's outta the way, you should be aware there <i>might</i> be another clutchless transmission option for the R8 until some manner of S-Tronic is available.

A rather unsatisfactory one, IMFFHO. But that is another story...</font>

I'm sure most people, like myself, really enjoy reading your posts sharing your experience and knowledge about the future R8.
IMHO, why pat yourself on the back about how skillful you are in command of a manual transmission performance car.
Insight on R8/DSG configuration is far more usefull to one considering a future R8 purchase decision.
Many of us with considerable "heel-n-toe" experience are looking forward to the high-torque capable DSG.

Thanks! Your informative posts are really appreciated. The R8 is the first car that has me seriously excited in a long time. I keep watching the video of the polka dot car going around the 'ring' over and over again.. ;-)

Would love to track it nearby at the Circuit de Mont Tremblant.....with a DSG gearbox..!!
