It comes from stimme.de via germancarblog. It may or may not be accurate of course, and I don't really understand German, but it is a weight.

1.6 tonne, which my converter says is about 3527.4 lbs.<ul><li><a href="http://www.stimme.de/finanzen/wirtschaftregional/art2088,844823.html?fCMS=19e141acb262a120d639fc3bd 7c439fd">http://www.stimme.de/finanzen/wirtschaftregional/art2088,844823.html?fCMS=19e141acb262a120d639fc3bd 7c439fd</a</li></ul>

The European RS4 is listed as 1,650 kg or 3,637 pounds. Somehow the American version ended up at 3,957. That calculates to about 320 mysterious pounds of weight. The R8 would either need a much lighter European weight number or it better not get fat on its journey while it is on a boat.

and, of course, nice to see you over here...

i hope that audi, in light of the importance of this car and the importance/hope they have for it in the US market (for reasons of brand image), took into account the epa regulations, et al...hopefully using them as a lowest common denominator in the design of this car. if they did this we should NOT see a weight penalty of any kind.

weight is going to be crucial for this car. it sounds like the "lowly" new M3, with similar power (414 hp) is expected to weigh not much more than the 335i, which weighs about 3500 lbs, through the use of a carbon roof, a la M6, etc....

regardless of the weight distribution the R8 will have to weigh significantly less than 3500 lbs, in my opinion, to offer the performance it's premium implies.

i think it will.

i hope it does.

I am being more realistic and thinking around 3450-3550.
