it is all but confirmed that (just trust me on this):
world debut at le mans. first auto show debut in paris.
the R8 will launch with the RS4 engine (with mild tweaks) and 6 speed tranny.
next addition will be a DSG and later a V10 (likely the V10 from the next RS6). that engine probably won't happen for about a year.
first european deliveries ~feb 2007. with first US deliveries a couple of months later.
it will be a 2+2.
base price almost exactly 100K.
major option- ceramic brakes
the engine sounds spectacular according to people who saw it going around the nurburgring. sounds like a vantage at WOT without the irregular, machine gun firecracking characteristics of the aston.
the following are less substantiated outright rumors:
transverse engine
suicide doors
ps- documented first attempt at R8 pron but was owned by big brother.
