This happened to me on Friday, I didn't notice until later and the service center was closed. I found it very odd. I can't say that I'm really pissed, but I do want some answers.
Oh yeah all of the clothing was Audi tech gear.

and just threw some stuff in the back while they were out.
Is the gear any good ? Perhaps some small compensation was in order!

If not, contact the service manager. Tell them you intend to keep the gear unless they have a justifiable explanation.

Take the stuff in with you and go "I really appreciate all the free stuff you gave me last week, but it doesn't fit. Do you think I could get these in a <insert size here>?" Don't smile, don't laugh, just be serious. See what he says lol. If he doesn't own up to it, then push him for an answer, and if you don't get an answer but he wants the stuff back, pull the "finders keepers losers weepers" thing

you should have it listed right there how far your car was driven. anything more than a few miles should be cause for concern... especially with all of the techs clothes in the backseat!

On top of that, when i went to pick up the car, the tech had not closed out the paper work, so my service advisor said that he'll mail it to me. I'm pretty sure I won't see an official "out" mileage. But I guestimated it was about 20mi or so based on my last glance at the odometer, which is a hell of a lot of miles for a test drive.

they were very apologetic and drove me to my office. I ended up having to get my mother to drop off the spare key later that morning and they said they'd deliver the car to my office for me. a couple hours later the car showed up so I went out to move it into my spot after the guy from BMW left. I was getting out and noticed a wallet in the BACK seat. Hmmm... why would there be a wallet in my back seat?? The id was a young kid (around 18) so I checked the paperwork that they left with the car... yup, 60+ miles more than we dropped it off with! I looked up the kids # from the wallet and called his house. his dad answered and was a little confused when I asked why I found his sons wallet in my car that was at BMW for service the night before. He called me back and told me that his son said a friend (who just started working at BMW) picked him up last night in the car! Apparently when we called and said we couldn't pick the car up that night the service advisor told this lot boy to put the car in one of the service bays. He didn't, he parked it at the end of the lot and kept the key. He came back after they closed and took the car home for the night. He told his friends that the dealership let him take the car home! We had a long talk w/ the service mgr, sales mgr and owner of the dealership... when the kid showed up for work that day he was promptly arrested for stealing the car and fired on the spot. The dealership detailed the car in and out, put new tires on it and offered to end the lease early and trade it for anything else we wanted.
sorry for the long rant but I don't get to tell that story too often! :)
I'd call your service dept and demand the paperwork w/ the miles listed and I'd also give the GM/owner of the dealership a call and explain your concern.

passenger seat/seatbelt/door handle, but don't think it was more than a brief but quick test drive. wow.
I tend to drop off the car with very little gas in it to discourage anything extra.

her service advisor's (who I know pretty well) jaw hit the floor when she said "if the lot boys get to take them then why can't I have one!" She then explained to him that we were friends and I had told her the story. Needless to say they were trying to keep the whole thing pretty quiet. I have a very good relationship w/ that dealership (my family has purchased at leasat 9 cars from them, plus I've referred even more people to them) and we were very pleased with the way they handled it. My mother bought a Range Rover a couple years later (same owner as the BMW store) and had a couple problems with it. Without even thinking about it the owner told her to bring it in and they would lemon it and she could pick out whatever she wanted off the lot. She ended up w/ a year newer truck, in a color that she actually liked better! All in all they've more than made up for the inconvenience of what happened with the M5.
