I didn't think much of it in the beginning because it was so slight and I was so full of adrenaline. But I knew something wasn't right. One time at the dealer for regular maintenance, I mentioned it to the service manager and they took a look at it. They came back to me saying the rotors were warped. wtf? The car had never been on a track or otherwise pushed to its limits. OK, but the brakes have only 12k mile warranty and I was at 13k. fcuk. But they said they would covers parts if I paid the labor for new ones and I went ahead and did it. Cost me about $350. In the end, it still shakes but somewhat less than before. The mph shake-band has been reduced from 60-70 to 62-65 but it still shakes ever so slightly. I've had new tires put on (from the OEM Pirellis to M-PS) and regularly check the tire pressure so I'm not sure what to blame. It's such a minor little annoyance that I'm not bothered to do much else about it but I would really like to know how such a highly tuned car could have such a Yugo-esque problem. nice.badger 05-11-2008, 04:30 AM Forgot to mention I am driving a B7 RS4 tomcny 05-11-2008, 09:50 AM It doesnt happen when i brake. My friend is a mechanic, he said he will take it for a ride. He said if its not a bent rim, it could be drive shaft related. MosRS4 05-14-2008, 09:43 AM Mine happens between 80-90mph but it is more a resonance/drone through the chassis than vibration in the steering wheel...i drove the service forman in the car to show the problem. They are ordering me a new rear differential but not arriving until next week. Will keep you posted |
