On another forum a poster said they had talked with their dealer and AOA multiple times and were told that Audi will have 08 RS4 Avants at dealers in October?

I haven't heard anything personally and know only that the RS4 Cab has been added. Audi wouldn't just bring in a few and not tell anyone?

I've owned Audis continuously since 1986. I've been lied to by dealers and AoA more times than I can count. I truly don't believe a word they say about a car unless and until I actually see the car in front of me.

My favorite story is when I tried to order a pearl white B5S4 in 1999. The dealer and zone rep assured me that the car was never going to be built in that color. So I gave up and ordered a silver one. Before that car ever arrived, I found a pearl white one at another dealership - in the same sales zone.

I drove my new pearl white car to the first dealer, and asked again "are you sure it isn't being made in pearl white?" When he said "we checked again, they just aren't building it" I told him to look outside the window at my new pearl white S4 - and "please give me my deposit back."

I think they lie to customers just to stay in practice. I love the cars - my current RS4 is my eleventh Audi. But I LOATHE and totally mistrust AoA and the dealership sales departments.

i've found a dangerous combination of smugness and incompetence at the typical Audi dealer. that's not to say every individual or every dealer. but, they sure seem to have a lot of goofballs walking around.

the dealer closest to me brought a bunch of people over from the Acura lot they merged(ownership) with. i was there looking around and one of the (former Acura) sales reps said "how about this used B6 S4, it's real sporty." then i said "uh, if you look over there at my car, you'll notice it's a B6 S4." not to mention that i had told him that when introduced.

i like Audis too, always have. but, the dealership experience is really lacking.

i think i remember reading somewhere that because of the battery location in the rs4 avants being in the rear, aoa couldn't federalize that model for this market. but don't trust my memory, i can't even remember where i left my keys this morning.

A helluva lot more than a sales guy that is going to be working at the dealership for a year or two. And certainly more than an "audi specialist" who answers the phone all day and dreams of another job!

Underneath it all they are all used car salesmen. The really good ones are few and far between, but they are out there. You'll know you have found one when they say "let me check on that" and actually get back to you. Most think if you walk out the door they will never see you or your money again, thus they lie and try to sell you whatever they can.
