Fellas,

I'm posting over here from the b6s4 board to inquire about RS4 pricing. I've been considering buying/leasing an RS4 come spring time. It seems to be that brand new cars have a sticker price of 70k with the premium package. My budget for a payment per month is $1200. So essentially my questions are:

1 - Is it reasonable to believe I can lease/buy an RS4 for 1200 a month.
2 - What have your delivery times been when ordering a new one.
3 - Will I have that much more room for negotiation if I take a car out of inventory instead of ordering one.
4 - For 1200/month (less is obviously better) what other cars would you consider.

Things to note, I am in my early 20s, single, use the car mainly on weekends (work in Manhattan live in westchester) and will use this car as my primary car.

Thanks in advance guys.

1 - Yes
2 - 12-16 weeks (but probably longer now b/c of August slow down)
3 - Probably not, but some have had luck. In some cases the color helps.
4 - Don't have an answer for this one

So you believe 1200 is a reasonable guestimate for the rs4, would you say 1200 is ball park or I may be able to lease/finance one for less? I understand that in *most* cases it is financially better to buy the car but the convenience of leasing a car is appealing to me.

Just trying to begin my research. I believe that if you are going spend 70,000 dollars on a car you should thoroughly research the product & costs before hand. So thanks for your quick response.

I think that was the price I would have been paying if I leased mine. I just spoke to a friend who works at a dealer yesterday and he told me someone leased a 2008 RS4 with the Audi Exclusive interior for $1100.

Do I want to buy a model that is going to have production stopping months after I buy it? As far as I can tell from poking around on the web there won't be a b8 rs4 for a long time, and the b8 s4 isn't coming to soon either.

I absolutely love the power design and feel of the RS4 and I feel as thought thats enough for me to not care about when the next model will be released.

I really like Daytona grey, but I'm considering custom ordering Ibis White. The dealership I deal with in CT has been ordering these cars 4 at a time (I believe) and my family and I have a good standing relationship with them so it would be nice to be able to pick from inventory and avoid 16 weeks of nail biting anticipation haha.

there are too many variables that the dealer can play with to get your payment, and you'll just end up wasting your (and their) time. negotiate the selling price of the car, and don't tell them what kind of payment you're looking for. THEN talk financing. figure out how much you want to put down, then have them give you their best rate(s). go home and search for other lenders using leasecompare.com, lendingtree.com, or talk to your bank. Audi Financial Services rates are notoriously sucky, so don't use them unless they're throwing in some perks (i.e. free Audi Care, etc.).

to get it at $1200/mo, you're probably looking at putting down $5k at least (not including TT&L) and doing a 48mo lease.

Although I know what you're trying to do, I don't think asking a blanket "is $1200/mo possible" question is very useful because there are way too many variables that contribue to your monthly cost. As someone else mentioned, your best bet would be to work out the price of the car first, and then discuss the various finance/lease options off that price.

Audi lease rates for non run-of-the-mill cars aren't that great, so the money factor will be very large. It seems like most people are financing this car as opposed to leasing. I would imagine if you have a business and can write off the lease, then there may be an advantage to going down that path. Otherwise, provided you get a decent financing rate, you may be better of doing that.

As for negotiating on cars in inventory, I was actually surprised that most of the dealers that I spoke weren't willing to budge on them but were willing to deal on a brand new order. There were a few cases where the car had been in inventory for a long time (usually because of the color or when an '07 needed to be moved) and they were willing to deal somewhat. However, the incentives weren't significant enough where buying that car was better than ordering a new one.

Delivery times right now are in the 90-120 days. As for availability of the car next spring, who knows! The car IS going out of production and there's a limited # that they are producing to begin with, so I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't available at that time either -- ask a few dealers on their take, and if they don't sound too sure, maybe you can even contact Audi.

Good luck

Thanks, yeah ive realized after working out some numbers at a dealer and myself today that financing is the way to go as I am not a small business owner. As for the blanket question I was asking here more in terms of "have you guys gotten a good deal that puts you around 1200" not really can i fudge numbers to get there. i understand what you are saying that you can really do whatever you want to get a payment number anywhere. I was just looking for some general consensus from guys who own the car. I really do appreciate your feedback though. Considering it takes so long to order the car i think i will look to order in mid to late winter and take delivery early summer. A dealer tonight old me april is probably the last safe month i can order the car. thanks for the response.

lower than $1200 for around purchase amount plus taxes of $72K when i bought my car used. Lease was higher and within $100 so figured buying was better (with what car is worth now however I question that decision). No money down. Later refinanced and payment now under 950 for remaining balance.
