Had a great time, but a few problems with the RS4

First off, the windows are acting funny since the event. The auto-up/auto down is not working consistently. Back right window wouldn't go up at all. Then it did. Now the auto-up won't work. The drivers front window the auto-up/down works sometimes and not others.

The oil temp got really high - around 290 degrees - oil junkies begin theories!

The shift knob and boot came off (twice). Scared the sh!t out of me. Going into turn 2, had it in first (which actually worked for that tight turn) then slammed it into second and the whole thing came flying off. Shane was able to pop it back in, which I probably would have been able to figure out after the adrenaline leveled off. There is a small aluminum clip that hold it in. Shane recommended replacing this with a zip tie which I will certainly do before another event.

All in all, the car performed really well. I learned a lot about it and it is very different than my previous Audi's when pushed hard. It really is amazing and I can only hope that you all have the opportunity to drive it at the level I did. It really comes alive. I took some seasoned auto crossers for ride alongs and they all agreed the car was incredible. It certainly doesn't act like a 4000lb car.

I got some good video of mine as well as other cars. I am having someone put the footage together in a Top Gear-esque style and will hopefully be able to post later this week. For the next event I am bringing two professional videographers to film and put together a 10 minute movie which will be filmed completely in a Top Gear style. They will do all the "extra" shots the day before then take that action sequences at the event and make a short film out of it. They will do some script writing for it. If anyone wants to do some free voiceover work, let me know - my nasally ass voice isn't going to be too convincing. Should be pretty neat.

it sounds like the shift knob has been removed before, is that possible? An alternate to a zip tie is a small hose clamp, they work great.

Strange about the windows, try lowering them all the way down holding the button, then up. That usually fixes them after the battery is disconnected and it might work here.

It's funny, I may have done what you suggested unintentially. Otherwise, it just kind of worked itself out in the front. I'll have to try the rear tonight. It's weird that driving it hard was the casue though. They worked fine before and the battery never died.

Down all the way, hold three secs
immediately up all the way, hold three secs

The car needs to re-learn where the top of the window and the bottom of the window is (because of the pinch protection feature)

It was the oddest thing. I am not an autocross rookie, but that has never happened. Never even heard of it happening. I am just lucky that none of the small metal clips got lost or broken. Everything went back together fine.
