I was leaving Tustin Market Place to head home going west and there is a nice stretch where one can open up the car a bit...I was with my wife and doing 50plus and just shifting into 3rd when my new 9500i screams out Laser Lock!
I took the foot off and the detector shows your speed via GPS the laser lock...61 ( speed limit is 65) and I was like damn!
I easily would have been doing 80 plus in the next gear.
Have had lost of radar detectors before including a V1...first time it actually paid for itself. I'm usually good on surface streets and our CHP rarely uses radar.

performed under "stress" before for me ( to be fair I have only gotten 1 ticket by radar 8 years ago and I did not even have a detector in my car)
But this worked and it frankly it freaked me out, the loud clear voice was like my wife yelling "Cop" I would have prefered more warning but it was enough and the way he was positioned and the hill I was coming over it was I believe the limit of its tactical range.
I would endorse it to new buyers over the V1 just for the false alarm feature, I had a V1 in my M3 and found it to be lacking and annoying. But again I know many that swear by them so this is my opinion.
It just paid for itself so for once I am pleased.

How well does that feature work?

I like Escort's products, and used them for years, but I recently switched to the V1.
The V1 is a great unit, but its lack of the Auto-Mute feature that I became accustomed to on my 7500 & 8500 makes it rather annoying.
When I heard about the 9500 and its crazy sounding features, I thought of switching back. It seems that while good in theory, the 9500 still isn't ready for prime time. A lot of people have been returning the 9500s because of various problems. No radar/laser detector is going to give you enough notice to slow down. I think in this case you were just at the right place at the right time. The V1 warns of laser too, but it's always too late. My Lidatek is what saves me, but it too only alerts me after I've already been tagged.
Still good to hear you didn't get nailed and that GPS feature is really cool.

But I have had the unit about a month so time will tell.

and the warranty was 25 bucks for 3 years. But anything new is bound to have teething pains, but again, so far so good with mine.
