Experience has convinced me that convertables should be 2 seaters.

like spare wheels/tires with all your track gear and tools for hpde events... or on the other side of the coin, more dead hookers.
Plus, the Avant looks great on the B6/B7 platform from a styling perspective. On the other hand, the cab just plain doesn't work on the B6/B7. To me it looks like ass, especially with the top up.

Seriously the Avant weighs about 100 lbs more then the sedan version and that weight is not reinforcement steel panels it is just in the car's extra length at the top that goes back and its heavier tailgate.
I'm purely talking from a performance point of view here. I'm not saying people should not buy Cabs. If someone wants one fine it is their decision. I'm saying that past history and I think from the marketing point of view, they should have introduced an Avant model first here in North America.
Now usually, a car that as its roof completely chopped off and was not design as such (like a real roadster) to start with will unfortunately inherit body flex which affects handling. Furthermore to help stabilize or reinforce the chassis structure, additional steel is added increasing the weigh of the car by several hundreds of pounds.
FYI...
B7 S4 Sedan = 3869 lbs
B7 S4 Avant = 3979 lbs
B7 S4 Cab = 4211 lbs
There is a 342 lb difference between the sedan and the Cab version and to e that is pretty significant. Add to that the extra body flex and the safety factor in case of a roll over, for me it is a no go.
BTW, my wife as a Passat wagon and I guess I do drive it once in a while.
