What could go wrong if you shiped a English cab home to the states? I am thinking of trying. In Euros it will cost about $78,000 US. That seems fair if we never get the car here.

aside from the obvious oddity of driving on the wrong side, there are likely alot of legal issues that would make insurance, police interactions and most DMV interactions extremely tedious.

personally, i'd be all over a cab or an avant, but i'll settle for an official NA market car.

Do some research on what it takes to federalize a vehicle.

Your $78,000 car will suddenly become a $128,000 car.

I see post about some past Audi Europe models getting here to the states. If this is such a problem how did they do it and who could help? I know that back in the 1980's it was quite common to bring in all models from Europe. There was a dealer here in New Orleans that specialized in only that. You had a once in a lifetime exemption per person to bring one in with no modifications.

No such thing as an exemption for US Citizens.<ul><li><a href="http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/import/">Vehicle Import Rules</a></li></ul>
