Anyone who's ever jacked or lifted a Mk1 will appreciate the Mk2. Under each lower sill panel, fore and aft, are rectangular, plastic-lined recesses that appear to be actual jacking points. There's no visible pinch weld as on the Mk1 (perhaps due to ASF construction?). If my assumption about this is correct, it's a major, major advancement for the Mk2, perhaps even bigger than the fish-mouth grille.

In general, the underbelly of the Mk2 is pretty clean (spent some time on hands and knees looking at the coupe on display at the Milwaukee Auto Show). Very nice aluminum lower control arms up front.

the rubber jacking nubs on the MK1 are best not used and the pinch weld inevitable bends over time.

Wonder of those aluminium front control arms will work on an MK1 ... hmmm.

... at last night's NAAC gathering; funny discussion of jack points and missing jack ensued at New England forum:
